CASE STUDIES

Issue – One of our clients had purchased an online risk assessment kit which was really designed for a building, and not meant for an event, and whilst maybe it could of been adequate and used as a basis to work from in the hands of a trained professional, in this instance our client was not able to input the data required in the correct manner, this in turn meant he didn’t get out what he had hoped for, despite having the correct safe systems of work in place, this resulted in the Local authority rejecting his licence application and putting the event in jeopardy.

Solution – In just 6 days, we carried out a full risk assessment, we assisted in writing a set of management plans and supplied additional extinguishers and signage, worked out the exit widths as well as in addition we designed a check list for all vendors and arranged to attend on day one of the event and carry out a full audit whilst assisting with the final plans.

Result – Local Fire Authority agreed that our plans were now suitable and sufficient, and the event was given the go ahead.
Issue – A private nursing home was under risk of receiving a prohibition notice due to their sounders not reaching the correct sound levels at pillow height, for the 200 residents.

Solution – In less than 2 hours we were able to put in place an operational Firefighting team to stay on site during the hours of darkness to manage any evacuation should it be required whilst we over the course of a week retro fitted the new sounders across the whole site.

Result – Local Fire Authority agreed that the sounders were now suitable and sufficient, and not a single resident required moving, saving thousands of pounds.
Issue – An underground venue in London was hoping to hold an event for 300 person, at planning stage the fire authority said that they wanted to limit venue to 160.

Solution – We designed and implemented a plan with wide reaching but achievable control measures, by reducing the fire loading, designing an evacuation plan and having our team on site during the event, we could then demonstrate three elements, we had reduced risk of fire starting to almost nil, if one did occur we had Instant Firefighting to any occurrence, and fully trained marshalled evacuation which could clear the site in 3 minutes.

Result – Local Fire Authority agreed that the systems were had in place were now suitable and sufficient for 300 people, and didn’t lodge any objection.
